WelCo Oy to build a care home and a bakery café-shop on the same plot in Oulu

Oulu’s oldest bakery, Huovisen Leipomo, will be demolished and rebuilt on the same plot. The new Selman Paakari property will bring the bakery’s café-shop and a service home for older people under one roof. The property is owned by the Oulu Deaconess Institute Foundation, and care services will be provided by Hoivatie Oy.

The café-shop will occupy approximately 175 square metres and the care home 1,425 square metres, providing 34 beds. The building reflects the history and appearance of the old bakery. Demolition work has begun, and the entire property is scheduled for completion in November 2026. The main contractor is WelCo Oy, and Arkadi Arkkitehdit Oy is responsible for the design.
