About us

From everyday construction work to entrepreneurship

WelCo’s story began to take shape in the late 2010s, when the company’s current owners, Ville-Pekka Lehto and Joona Österberg, met through their day-to-day work in the construction industry.

At the time, Ville-Pekka worked for a large national construction company, while Joona ran his own earthworks business. Working on the same sites, the two got to know each other better, and Ville-Pekka was left with a lingering thought: if he ever founded a company, he would ask Joona to be his business partner.

2021: the company is founded

After the pandemic, in autumn 2021, the time was right to found WelCo Oy. The two sat down, brainstormed business ideas, decided to start a company and founded it, agreed on the ground rules and turned plans into action. Thanks to good contacts and solid construction experience, they won their first site, in Tuusula, as early as May 2022. The business idea has stayed the same ever since: developing and building care home and daycare projects as design-and-build contracts for operators, developers and investors.

2025: €1.1 million profit on €20 million revenue

Year by year, the number and size of WelCo’s sites grew. In the year after it was founded, the company already reached revenue of €5 million. A major milestone came in 2025, when the company passed €20 million in revenue and made a profit of more than €1.1 million! By this point, the cornerstones of WelCo’s success had become clear to its owners. They included strong design management, a partnership-based approach to client relationships, competitive procurement and well-managed site processes. Understanding how care operators work and the full process of a care project was also seen as essential.

Throughout its years in operation, WelCo has stood out in the market by creating added value through a more cost-effective property investment and the best service experience in the industry.

As a result, clients get more for their money than the market would otherwise offer. WelCo has been profitable throughout its history, and it has delivered projects all over Finland. Through its profitability, WelCo aims to stay innovative and maintain a high standard of construction.

WelCo’s mission is to help clients deliver care property projects with experienced, professional design and project management expertise.
