In early 2024, a 16-place 24-hour assisted living care home for people with intellectual disabilities was completed in Vuokatti, together with 6 adjoining supported apartments for independent living. The design drew on WelCo’s long experience in care facility construction, and all the apartments were fitted into a single building volume.
The building is heated with geothermal energy, and solar panels installed on the roof produce additional energy. Ecological choices were central themes of the design, and they also contribute to low operating costs.
